Runes

Runes are the other magic-like force, besides Psionics. Not spells in and of themselves, they alter the physical properties of that to which they are applied.

Runes must be carved into the intended surface to be effective. Carving a Rune requires two rolls, one for the necessary craft skill to work with the object or material in question, and one for the rune intended. Knowledge of each Rune is a separate skill, and must be specialized by Intent. Ingesting a Runed item grants its abilities only temporarily. A Rune permanently inscribed to flesh requires that the recipient pay the points cost of the associated Advantage.

There are three magical Runes known to Man, Algiz (Determination), Iwaz (Life), and Iss (Matter). Each harboring three powerful Intents. One who is wise may well discover more in their travels. Only the Dvergar and Odin are said to know the true meanings of all the true meanings.
